Happy Mother’s Day

Mother – One person who does the work of twenty. For free.

I know you probably think youre mom is the best, but let me tell you, MY mother really is 😉 My mom raised three kids, out of a suitcase, on airplanes, in public bathrooms, in hotels, motels, unfamiliar homes. Not only was she our mother but she was also our teacher, dance captain, main disciplinarian whilst dad was traveling and our only constant in an otherwise inconsistent (continent) life. She’s raised more children that are not her blood and loved countless others who would sometimes give her more head aches than one should ever have to bear. She is a woman of faith and integrity. Full of love and grace. Beauty and poise, and not to mention the most stylish missionary from Savai’i that you will ever meet 😉

I love you mom, thank you for all that you do, have done and continue to do. You are the best gift I never knew I needed :-)

Beauty {Soul&Story}

Soul&Story is a personal project a friend of mine started last year to showcase the natural beauty and beliefs of every day women through a make-up-less photoshoot and interview. Gasp, no makeup?!

Yup, no photoshop, touch-ups or brush downs! Just your beautiful God-given face and a camera.

WHY???? Beauty has come to mean a lot of new things in the past decade or so and one of those things we don’t want it to mean is make-up! Is makeup bad? NO. Is it fun? YES, but it can also have harmful side effects when it is not balanced with a healthy view of oneself. There are so many young (and older) girls who feel pressured to wear makeup in order to be beautiful. This project was started in the hopes that it would encourage women of all ages that real beauty starts with who you are and not something that can be picked up at the nearest convenience store.

I have had the pleasure of photographing several women, ages 15-30+, from different parts of the world and from different walks of life. If you’d like to read more about who they are and see more beautiful photo’s click here :)

And also don’t be shy to leave a comment (or two) about how amazing these women are! Also, share some spoken loving to the beautiful women in your own life. It never hurts to be reminded ; )
